N-Nitrosomines, trichomoniasis and cervical cancer

N-Nitrosomines, trichomoniasis and cervical cancer

South African Medical Journal 75(5): 247-248

The possibility of a relationship between N-nitrosomines, trichomoniasis and cervical cancer is speculated upon, in response to an editorial by T.R. Scott (South African Medical Journal (1988) 74, 320-327) on the evidence implicating N-nitroso compounds with a variety of human cancers. It is suggested that Trichomonas vaginalis may provide a nitrosamine factor in possible cervical cancer development that is provided elsewhere by smoking.
