N.Z. Dairy Board Livestock Improvement Division, Somatic cell counting services

N.Z. Dairy Board Livestock Improvement Division, Somatic cell counting services

Proceedings of the 5th Seminar of the Dairy Cattle Society of the New Zealand Veterinary Association held at Auckland, New Zealand, 22-24 June 1988: 69-76

In 1987/88, the New Zealand Dairy Board's Individual Cow Somatic Cell Counting (ICSCC) service covered 11.1 to 32.9% (mean 19.6%) of cows and 25.1 to 55.2% (mean 38.9%) of herds in the 6 regional divisions. Information supplied by 234 farmers in a survey carried out by the Livestock Improvement Division to ensure that the farmer obtained max. benefits from the ICSCC service indicated a need for more advice to be given on the use of ICSCC and mastitis control.
