NH3 losses under different farming systems

NH3 losses under different farming systems

Verband Deutscher Landwirtschaftlicher Untersuchungs und Forschungsanstalten Reihe Kongressberichte ( 30): 109-115

Using the wind tunnel method NH3 losses were measured following the application of cattle slurry to arable land and grassland. The influences of atmospheric conditions, dry matter content of the slurry, and the time and method of application were tested. The application of slurry to growing cereals (beginning of shooting) resulted in significantly reduced NH3 losses when compared to surface application without incorporation.
