NPK fertilization of coffee trees growing at full sunlight on a red ferrallitic soil of Cuba

In field experiments with the cultivar Caturra on a compact red ferrallitic soil, application at planting of P2O5 at 150 kg/ha to soils with an initial available P content of 26.4 p.p.m. increased yields by 115% over the no-P control. In soils with an initial exchangeable K content of 0.26 meq/100 g, K2O applied at planting at 450 kg/ha increased yields by 119% over the no-K control. Yields increased with plant density and increasing N rates.
