Natamycin residues in cheeses with the polyvinyl acetate coating Plasticoat, containing Delvocid

Samples of Polish cheeses coated with Plasticoat, a mould-inhibiting polyvinyl acetate coating from Delf National Chemie (Netherlands), containing 0.05% natamycin (Delvocid), were obtained from cheese factories immediately before wholesale distribution and tested for natamycin by a spectrophotometric method. The highest concn. of natamycin (39-104 micro g/g) was found in the top 1-mm surface layer of Salami cheese.
