New inbred lines for breeding maize hybrids

The 150 lines studied fell into 3 maturity groups: midearly (32%), midseason (38%) and midlate (30%). The best for breeding midlate hybrids were selected. The lines SK72, SK82, SK48 and SK47 showed high drought resistance. Most of the lines were maintainers of cytoplasmic male sterility (CMS); a few were fertility restorers (18 for Moldavian, 14 for Texas and 83 for Charrua CMS).
