New math at FDA

A new FDA mathematical procedure for evaluating nutritional composition of foods is described. The new system rewards manufacturers that conduct extensive testing of their product, as factors for calculating 95% prediction intervals decrease as number of analyses increase. Examples are presented showing how declared Na content of potato chips (crisps) may decrease and that of niacin increase as more analyses are performed.
