Photosynthetic and growth characteristics in NaCl-stressed Tradescantia albiflora L
Plants were grown in nutrient solutions having different NaCl concentrations (0-171 mM). NaCl stress imposed for 6 weeks decreased net photosynthetic and respiratory rates, leaf water content per unit area, net assimilation rate, relative growth rate and relative leaf growth rate, and increased CO2 compensation concentration and specific leaf area and resulted in fall of old leaves, delay in the emergence of new leaves, and delay and/or inhibition of root formation.
