A method for measuring photosynthetic carbon partitioning bewteen starch and sucrose was developed using soyabean leaves and based on the invariability of radiocarbon distribution between starch and sucrose during the chase following 14CO2 incorporation. Carbon partitioning between starch and sucrose during the 14 h photoperiod was followed at different developmental stages of the plant and during a graduated water stress.
