Photovoltaic retrofit to remote wind pumpers

, : Photovoltaic retrofit to remote wind pumpers. Proceedings of the 61st annual University of California rural energy conference, 11 January 1989: 20-24

Photovoltaic electricity (PV) is now a viable power alternative for stand-alone small loads isolated by distance from utility power lines and where sunshine is the normal sky condition during the season of need. PV retrofit packages for wind pumps to replace the aerial fan wheel and gearhead, and pump rod, with a well-head mounted electric pump jack, or a down-well submersible positive displacement pump, are commercially available.
