Pleiotropic effect of scale pattern genes in common carp: susceptibility to Ichthyophthirius multifiliis infection

All 4 scale pattern phenotypes of the common carp (Cyprinus carpio) were exposed, at 3 different temperatures, to standardised doses of 2 isolates of I. multifiliis. The responses to the infection was standardised to the body area. Variation in susceptibility to infection as well as variation in infectivity of the 2 parasite isolates was observed.
