Ploidy of different wheat species and the lectin activity of their seed proteins

, : Ploidy of different wheat species and the lectin activity of their seed proteins. Soobshcheniya Akademii Nauk Gruzinskoi SSR 129(1): 161-163

In a comparison of the lectin activity of proteins extracted from the grain of Triticum monococcum (2n = 2x = 14), T. dicoccum (2n = 4x = 28) and T. aestivum (2n = 6x = 42), a close correlation was found between lectin activity (measured by capacity for haemagglutination of rabbit erythrocytes) and ploidy.
