Pocket calculations on late peach culture. Experiences in central Italy
Italy produces 40% of the European Common Market's output of peaches. Medium-late cultivars are most important but late cultivars are increasing in importance. In Valdichiana Aretina (Arezzo), peach production has increased since the mid-1960's and is almost exclusively of medium-late and late cultivars. Maturation occurs 10-15 days later than in Emilia-Romagna and harvesting can continue until the end of Sep.
