Pollination of new apple cultivars
Data are presented on the percentage fruit set and average fruit weight and diameter of the cultivars Alkmene, Arlet, Delbard Jubile and Jonagored following hand pollination with pollen from James Grieve, Elstar, Idared, Alkmene and Arlet or open-pollination. Average fruit set of Arlet and Delbard Jubile was 51.6 and 37.6% respectively, but that of Alkmene and Jonagored was only 15 and 16.7%, respectively.
