Poultry manure composting: an exploratory study

Research was undertaken to identify design parameters for controlled composting of poultry manure. Of the 7 controllable factors tested, type of amendment, mixing method and initial dry solids content had the most significant impact on rate of poultry manure composting. The C/N ratio, stirring frequency and particle size had the greatest impact on nitrogen retention.
