Production of forms of lucerne with increased dry matter digestibility

Production of forms of lucerne with increased dry matter digestibility

Selektsiya i Semenovodstvo Moskva ( 1): 27-28

The dry matter digestibility of 54 Soviet and foreign forms was determined and individual plants in the best forms were selected and cloned. The progeny from crosses within and between clones was studied. The in vitro dry matter digestibility of the first generation in the first year was 64.3-70.6%. A significant increase (2.7%) over the standard (Severnaya Gibridnaya) was seen in VK5-5.
