Research on integrated arable farming and organic mixed farming in the Netherlands

Research on integrated arable farming and organic mixed farming in the Netherlands

Sustainable agricultural systems: 287-296

At a national experimental farm of 72 ha three farming systems were studied: organic (biodynamic), integrated and conventional. The systems are run on a commercial basis. The mixed organic system with 20 dairy cows and a 10 yr rotation aims to be self supporting in fertilizers and fodder and no pesticides are allowed. The conventional and integrated systems are concerned exclusively with arable farming under a 4 yr rotation.
