Screening of 99 flue-cured Virginia, 19 air-cured and 2 burley entries and an N. nesophila and an N. plumbaginifolia entry for resistance to 3 races (including one new unidentified race) of black shank (Phytophthora parasitica var. nicotianae (P. nicotianaevar. nicotianae)) from Hunsur identified air-cured Beinhart 1000-1 and flue-cured Virginia entries Coker 411, F108, F210, MC1610, Reams 64 and Va770 as resistant to all.
