Seed position in relation to 100-seed-weight, oil and protein content in single head of six varieties of sunflower (Helianthus annuus L.)

Seed position in relation to 100-seed-weight, oil and protein content in single head of six varieties of sunflower (Helianthus annuus L.)

Gujarat Agricultural University Research Journal 14(1): 64-71

Studies with 6 sunflower cultivars showed that values for 100-seed wt, percentage of filled seeds and oil contents were highest in seeds located in the peripheral region of the capitulum, followed by those in the middle and central regions. Protein contents were highest in the central region of 4 cultivars and in the peripheral region of the other 2 cultivars. Values for these characteristics also varied in different cultivars.
