Sequential sampling plans for green peach aphid (Homoptera: Aphididae) on potato

The rationale for the development of a sequential sampling plan for green peach aphid, Myzus persicae (Sulzer), on potato is presented. Samples of green peach aphids on potato leaves demonstrated a close fit to Taylor's power law (r2 = 0.927, P less than or equal to 0.001). The parameters generated from Taylor's power law were used to develop sequential sampling plans. Curves defining the average sample number and illustrating the operating characteristic curves were obtained by computer simulation. The effect of the use of different minimum and maximum sample sizes was investigated.
