Shoot regeneration from callus cultures of Actinidia chinensis (cv. Hayward)

The first phase of callus culture was carried out on a medium containing 2,4-D (0.9x10-5M), NAA (1x10-5M) and BA (0.8x10-8M); two cytokinins, 2iP and zeatin, and different sugar combinations were also tested. Zeatin gave the best callus growth particularly in DW. Adventitious shoots appeared after 180 days of culture when the growth rate was quite low.
