Some observations on the habits and adaptation of Schizodactylus monstrosus Drury (Schizodactylidae: Orthoptera)

Some observations on the habits and adaptation of Schizodactylus monstrosus Drury (Schizodactylidae: Orthoptera)

Plant Protection Bulletin, India 40(2): 20

The biology of Schizodactylus monstrosus, a predator of the acridid Schistocerca gregaria, was studied in the field in Rajasthan, India, in 1986-87, using a light trap. Adults were attracted to the light throughout the year, but nymphs were caught only in autumn. Schizodactylus monstrosus was found in a range of habitats and occupied burrows which were 20-35 cm in depth.
