Sorghum stem borers in southern Africa

Sorghum stem borers in southern Africa

International workshop on sorghum stem borers, held in Patancheru, India, on 17-20 November 1987: 41-47

The distribution, biology and damage caused by Chilo partellus, Busseola fusca, Sesamia calamistis and Eldana saccharina on sorghum in southern Africa are outlined. Control strategies include the use of cultural and chemical methods. Migration has been identified as an important bionomic factor and synthetic pheromones have potential for the integrated control of these pests.
