In recent years, much interest has been shown in the fact that motor endurance was remarkably increased by octacosanol. This was confirmed by a swimming endurance test on mice supplied with octacosanol feed supplement extracted from sugar cane. We also conducted research on its effect to significantly decrease the neutral lipids and cholesterol in the liver. Howerver, the phospholipids content showed no difference in the liver though they did decrease in the serum. Lactate dehydrogenase (LDH) activity showed no variation in the liver. On the other hand, there was an increase of the liver protein content with the addition of octacosanol. From this information it was concluded that oxtacosanol stimulated the conversion of lipids into energy. On the basis of our findings, we speculated that the animals' physical strength was increased by more protein in the liver and the consumption of lipids, and that this enhanced motor endurance.
