In studies of the availability of 15N-labelled N fertilizer applied in Nov. to only the initial crop in a wheat/rice/wheat rotation on an alluvial soil at Mymensingh, wheat recovered 36% of the applied fertilizer N compared with 9 and 2% for the succeeding rice and wheat crops, resp. In a similar study of a rice/wheat rotation given labelled N fertilizer in Aug. only 18 and 2%, resp., was recovered.
