In an experiment in the aman season of 1986 at Mymensingh, rice NS-1, NS-5 and Nizersail were given 0, 40, 60, 80 or 100 kg N/ha in 2 equal split applications 15 d after transplanting and at max. tillering. N application increased grain yield in all cultivars but N rate had no effect. However, increasing N rate increased straw yields.
