Media were tested for culturing ectomycorrhizal fungi isolated from pine roots. In tests with inoculations of Amanita muscaria, Rhizopogon, Laccaria laccata, Scleroderma verrucosa and Pisolithus tinctorius on the growth of Pinus caribaea in axenic culture, nearly 80% survived, compared with mortality rates of 5 out of 6 in the uninoculated controls.
