Substrates, enzymes and hormones in high yielding cows - relations between metabolic values and feed intake criteria

Substrates, enzymes and hormones in high yielding cows - relations between metabolic values and feed intake criteria

Journal of Animal Breeding and Genetics 106(5): 363-372

Daily variation in serum glucose, beta -hydroxybutyrate, free fatty acids, cholesterol, gamma -glutamyltransferase, aspartate aminotransferase, alanine aminotransferase, glutamate dehydrogenase, triiodothyronine, thyroxine and insulin, as well as urea and acetone in milk were estimated in 15 heifers in weeks 2, 4, 6, 8, 10, 14 and 21 of lactation. Glucose, beta -hydroxybutyrate and free fatty acid concentrations varied between 04.00 and 08.00 h (before and after feeding and milking).
