Examples are given of sweet glycosides derived from cucurbitane triterpenes (bitter principles of cucurbitaceous plants), and the characterization of sweet glycosides from fruits of S. siamensis is reported. This plant grows in South Yunnan and is closely related to Thladiantha grosvenori (whose fruits are known as luo-han-guo).
