Cyclic wetting and drying tests offer better understanding of swelling potential of soils. An attempt is made in this paper to study the cyclic behaviour of black cotton soil subjected to full swelling and full or partial shrinkage in each cycle. The method of shrinking has been either under normal room conditions or under the influence of elevated temperature of 50 degrees C. The tests were conducted on each sample till an equilibrium shrink-swell band is reached.
