Synchronization of oestrus in some flocks of sheep

Synchronization of oestrus in some flocks of sheep

East Friesian ewes which had not conceived during a 4-month mating period were treated with FGA-impregnated sponges for 14 days, followed by 500 IU PMSG on sponge withdrawal. In the 2 groups, which comprised 19 and 18 ewes, oestrus was induced in 19 and 16 ewes resp. Following 2 inseminations, 48 and 60 h after the end of treatment, 72 and 55% of ewes in the 2 groups conceived.
