Synthesis and juvenile hormone activities of some aza aromatic juvabione analogues


, : Synthesis and juvenile hormone activities of some aza aromatic juvabione analogues. Indian Journal of Experimental Biology 25(2): 86-89

Some aromatic aza analogues of juvabione and dehydrojuvabione were synthesized and their juvenile hormone (JH) activities determined against Dysdercus fasciatus, Tenebrio molitor, Megoura viciae Buckt, Tetranychus urticae and Plutela xylostella. Three synthetic juvenile hormone analogues (IIIa, IIIc and IVb) exhibited very high degree of JH activity against D. fasciatus and weak to moderate JH activities against other insect species. Two compounds (IVa and IVc) showed weak to moderate activities against all insects while one (IIIb) was completely inactive. Although these compounds were more active than natural JH III, they were not as active as methoprene.
