Systole coriandri Gussakovsky (Hymenoptera: Eurytomidae), pest of coriander (Coriandrum sativum L.) in Chile

, : Systole coriandri Gussakovsky (Hymenoptera: Eurytomidae), pest of coriander (Coriandrum sativum L.) in Chile. Revista Chilena de Entomologia 14: 25-28

The eurytomid Systole coriandri was found attacking 75% of coriander seeds collected in 2 samples from central Chile in 1984. The seeds were found to contain 1-2 individuals each. In one sample the seeds were dissected after 1.5 years cold storage, and 76% were shown to be infested, 73% containing live larvae.

The interleukin-4-inducing principle from Schistosoma mansoni eggs (IPSE/alpha-1) triggers the release of large amounts of interleukin-4 from human blood basophils, thus presumably playing an immunomodulatory role during schistosome infection.
