Termination of reproductive diapause in the Sitka spruce weevil, Pissodes strobi (Peck) (Col., Curculionidae) in western Washington

Termination of reproductive diapause in the Sitka spruce weevil, Pissodes strobi (Peck) (Col., Curculionidae) in western Washington

Journal of Applied Entomology, 1082: 156-163

Laboratory experiments were carried out to determine the role of cold temperature conditioning and host material in termination of reproductive diapause in females of Pissodes strobi infesting Sitka spruce (Picea sitchensis) in western Washington State. Females exposed to temperatures of 4.4, 10, 15.5 and 21.1 degrees C for periods of 20, 40 and 60 days did not break diapause.
