The main provisions of the European Economic Community (EEC) directive on straight ammonium nitrate fertilizers of high nitrogen content are reviewed. Fertilizers falling under the directive contain <more or =>28 wt% nitrogen and may contain inorganic additives or inert substances providing they do not increase its sensitivity to heat or tendency to detonate.
