The competitive position of GFR agriculture in milk production; Study group 2: improving competitiveness in milk production

The competitive position of GFR agriculture in milk production; Study group 2: improving competitiveness in milk production

Archiv DLG ( 80): 33-59; 112-114

While all 350 000 GFR milk producers are currently considered competitive, though their average incomes are not high by European standards, the future position is so dependent on various externally determined factors that it is hard to predict. GFR milk prices are at present above the EC average and herd size structure is low. Adjustment to farm sizes more appropriate to modern technology is essential if productivity is to be increased and costs reduced.
