The effect of Gai/Rht genes on yield and other traits in crosses of tall X dwarf and dwarf X dwarf crosses of hexaploid wheat

The effect of Gai/Rht genes on yield and other traits in crosses of tall X dwarf and dwarf X dwarf crosses of hexaploid wheat

Genome 30(supplement 1): 464

Homozygous populations of tall and dwarf plants were raised from 3 crosses involving the dwarfing genes Gai/Rht1, Rht2, and Rht3. Comparison of means of parents and segregants indicated increases in the number of spikes/plant in the Gai/Rht1 and Gai/Rht3 carriers, while the number of grains/spike increased in the Gai/Rht2 carriers. The correlation between plant height and yield traits were all positive and significant in the dwarf groups.
