The effect of feeding different sources of crude fibre during pregnancy on the reproductive performance of sows

The effect of feeding different sources of crude fibre during pregnancy on the reproductive performance of sows

Proefverslag Varkensproefbedrijf ' Noord en Oost Nederland' ( 1.46): 31 pp.

For 5 successive parities or until slaughter, sows were given a control compound diet (C), C plus chopped straw 0.2 kg (CS), C with maize silage 1.5 kg replacing 0.25 kg of C (CM) or a compound diet of higher crude fibre content than C (CFR). During lactation all sows were given C. Sows in groups CS, CM and CFR ate 45% more crude fibre, up to 2% more net energy and up to 6% less digestible protein than C sows.
