Maize Eta at the dough stage was ensiled in 1984-85 alone or with 12.5, 25, 37.5 or 50% L. mutabilis or 25, 50 or 75% soyabeans or soyabeans were ensiled alone. Tables are presented of characteristics contributing to fermentability, quality and feeding value. Silage DM and water soluble carbohydrate (WSC) contents decreased and CP, CF, ethanol and acetic and lactic acid contents increased with increasing admixtures of L. mutabilis.
