The effect of nitrogen fertilization and plant density on seed yield of onion (Allium cepa L.)

Field trials were carried out in 1984-86 to evaluate the effect of 6 levels of N (0, 30, 60, 90, 120 and 150 kg/ha) and 5 plant densities (4, 6, 8, 10 and 12 bulbs/msuperscript 2) on seed yield of Amposta. N fertilization increased the numbers of umbels and seed weight per umbel, resulting in greater seed production (0.22 q/ha for every 10 kg/ha N applied).
