Abstract
Stavropol ewes with low fleece weight were mated with Stavropol, Lincoln Longwool (LL), Russian Longwool or North-Caucasus Mutton-Wool rams. Fleece weights of crossbreds were 4.3-19.7% higher than those of low-producing Stavropols, the offspring of LL rams being the best among the crossbreds (76-84% of their progeny being of the desired semifine-wooled type).
