Abstract
The vertical distribution of 4 sympatric species of Microtermes, including M. lepidus and M. aluco, in soil under secondary woodland and maize are described from studies in Nigeria in 1974-75. The greatest numbers of all species were found above 50 cm in both uncultivated and cultivated areas.
