The importance of fertigation for the improvement of N-fertilizer use efficiency in lettuce culture

Acta Horticulturae (222): 135-146

Fertigation was compared with broadcast application of N fertilizers at 3 localities in field trials mainly with lettuce but also with spinach and Chinese cabbage. The yield data are tabulated. The yields were comparable under both systems but crop uniformity was better with fertigation owing to the absence of high nutrient concentrations frequently occurring with broadcast application.
