Urine samples were taken in the early afternoon from 100 pupils selected at random from each of 10 primary schools in all 23 local government areas (LGAs) in Benue State These samples were examined for ova of Schistosoma haematobium by a sedimentation procedure. The overall prevalence of infection was 15.3%-classified as "moderate". The prevalences in individual LGAs (illustrated in a map) ranged from 1.3% to 30.6%.
