The principles of predicting the individual risk of silicosis and silicotuberculosis

Investigations of workers in silicosis-risk industries (e.g. copper mining, gold mining and silica firebrick manufacture) in the USSR were further studied by the mathematical theory of pattern recognition. Results indicated that the probability of a worker developing silicosis depends on several environmental and individual factors. Genetic predisposition is important.
