The regulation of soybean pod maturation

Dissertation Abstracts International B, Sciences and Engineering 48(2): 318B

The regulation of soybean pod maturation

Maturation of soyabean Anoka fruit from final DW accumulation when pods are still green to the terminal stage of desiccation when pod walls are brown and seeds are yellow was studied. Fruit development was analysed in terms of water content, conductance as measured by dye flow and water potential of fruit parts. When pod walls and seed coats lost all greenness, dye flow into fruit stopped first at the seed coats, followed by the funiculus, pod wall and pod wall vascular bundles.
