Effects of different rates of water supply on transpiration coeff. (TC) and water use efficiency (WUE) were studied in pot and lysimeter experiments. Water use and harvestable DM of potatoes Sola were markedly higher when pots were held throughout growth at 70% of field capacity (moist) or at 30% of field capacity (dry) till flowering and moist thereafter than when kept dry continuously or dry only after flowering.
