Use of pelleted straw in feeding sheep

Use of pelleted straw in feeding sheep

Nauchno tekhnicheskii Byulleten' SO VASKhNIL (14): 49-54

Feed intake by sheep was increased by including loose or pelleted straw in the diet as part of the feed mixture. Wool yield was greatest with diets containing considerable amounts of straw which was pelleted with concentrates, followed by those diets containing all dried feeds. The pelleted diet gave an average daily body weight gain of 190 g, with cost of gain 6.5 feed units/kg.
