Use of pollen mutagenesis to alter flowering initiation of tropical lines

Use of pollen mutagenesis to alter flowering initiation of tropical lines

Maize Genetics Cooperation Newsletter (62): 70-71

A photoperiod-sensitive maize population grown in a short-day environment was subjected to pollen mutagenesis using the method of M. G. Neuffer (see Maize for Biological Research (1982), p. 61) with modification (detailed). The resulting M1s were selfed in a similar environment and the M2s (S1s) were grown in a long-day environment and selected for flowering and grain set.
