Use of portable computers to assess insect populations in advanced integrated pest management programs: alfalfa weevil as an example

Use of portable computers to assess insect populations in advanced integrated pest management programs: alfalfa weevil as an example

Journal of Economic Entomology, 814: 995-999

A fixed-error probability sequential sampling programme was developed based on a 6-stem, 100-msuperscript 2 sampling method and incorporated into a BASIC program to rapidly assess population densities of larvae of the lucerne pest Hypera postica in Kentucky. The programme will run on an Epson HX-20 hand-held computer without modification and also on IBM and compatible machines with some changes.
